Dash was created in 2014 by Evan Duffield as a privacy and payments-focused cryptocurrency, originally named Darkcoin. It pioneered a two-tier network with masternodes that enable InstantSend for near-instant confirmations and CoinJoin mixing for optional transaction privacy. Dash uses the X11 hashing algorithm and produces blocks roughly every 2.5 minutes.
