eCash was created in 2021 as a rebrand of Bitcoin Cash ABC, continuing the vision of Amaury Séchet to build electronic cash for everyday use. It added Avalanche consensus as a finality layer on top of proof-of-work, enabling instant transaction confirmations and sub-cent fees. eCash uses a base unit of 100 satoshis and produces blocks roughly every 10 minutes.
